Milton Rieback was born and raised in South Africa, where, as a youth, he discovered a love for animals. As a game ranger, safari field guide and herpetologist, he has worked for world-renowned parks and game preserves. Milton moved to the United States in 2000. He is currently the director of education at Safari West Wildlife Preserve, an African wildlife park nestled in Northern California's wine country. He based the characters in this book on many animals that he has worked with throughout his life.
Steve Stroupe has been actively involved in the US water garden industry since 1987. He owned and operated Davis Creek Nursery, a wholesale aquatic plant nursery and distribution company for 12 years. He's written extensively for various industry periodicals in the past, co-authored three books on the care and cultivation of aquatic plants, and developed several aquatic plant containers, as well as new commercial growing methods for aquatic plants. He administrates a FaceBook page for the International Waterlily & Water Gardening Society, and has his own industry blog where he uses satire, irreverence, and caustic humor to address industry concerns. Steve also functions as a de facto industry satirist, iconoclast, and critic.
