Welcome to the 17th annual Parade of Ponds tour the weekend of July 25th-26th. Over 65 tour locations in the western Chicago suburbs showcase a variety of water features in the landscape, from decorative fountains to ecosystem ponds to rainwater harvesting systems, and more. Most of the water features are located in the gardens of private residences and descriptions of each are included in the 2009 Pond Tour ticket booklet.
The tour is self-guided and maps are provided for ease in planning your own personalized tour of the watery landscapes. You can view the water gardens from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 25th, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 26th.
Proceeds from ticket purchases benefit the Aquascape Foundation, a not-for-profit 501 3C organization dedicated to creating sustainable solutions for the world-wide water crisis. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at the Aquascape Water Gardening Store located at 901 Aqualand Way in St. Charles, and at various garden centers in DuPage and Kane counties.
The Aquascape Water Gardening Store will be open for the duration of the tours and staff will be on hand to answer any questions, provide directions, and serve refreshments. Tours of “AquaTerra,” the nearby home of Aquascape owner and CEO, Greg Wittstock, will be available only by exclusive shuttle departing from the store. The Wittstock residence showcases a 1-acre ecosystem pond, walking path through the impressive grounds, and a stunning Pondless® Waterfall located at the entrance to the home.
